The Leadership Essentials Workshop.
Overview
This two-day educational experience provides participants with the opportunity to explore and be challenged by the core elements of leading today’s demanding and complex organizations. Uniquely designed to equip managers with the core competencies necessary to successfully lead at the personal, interpersonal, team and organization levels, this fast-paced, experiential workshop provides a strong foundation for individuals at all organizational levels. Over the course of four distinct modules, this highly experiential workshop takes participants through a series of thought-provoking lecturettes and videos, interactive exercises and noteworthy case studies.
Objectives
As a result of this workshop participants will be better able to:
- Enhance their personal leadership presence,
- Coach others for high performance,
- Lead highly innovative and productive teams,
- Create significant organizational commitment and alignment, and
- Design a challenging, personal leadership development plan.
Module One: Authenticity
Focus: One-on-None
The purpose of this module is to help participants increase their level of self-awareness and leadership maturity, and determine their personal readiness for leadership. Participants will examine the personal qualities required of leaders through three units:
- Values: identifying personal and professional values and their influence on leadership approach and effectiveness.
- Natural Talents: highlighting used and unused talents as a foundation for leadership development.
- Professional Development: creating a unique personal leadership development plan through the use of a 360 assessment and one-on-one coaching.
Upon completion of this module, participants will have a clear road map of what it means to be an Authentic Leader as well as a dynamic planning framework to be used in their ongoing leadership development activities.
Module Two: Coaching
Focus: One-on-One
The purpose of this module is to help participants increase their ability to coach others for high performance. They will be introduced to a potent three-part coaching model that they will be able to immediately use in all of their on-the-job interactions. Through a series of coaching practicums, participants will employ this model and receive feedback on their coaching effectiveness. The three parts of the coaching model are:
- Appreciation: seeking out and affirming the best in others.
- Confrontation: challenging others with their own talents, aspirations and potential.
- Accountability: holding others accountable to their own highest standards.
Upon completion of this module, participants will have the tools required to significantly increase their interpersonal effectiveness and ability to help others develop and perform at their highest levels.
Module Three: Innovation
Focus: One-on-Team
The purpose of this module is to help participants increase their ability to create and lead highly innovative teams. Participants will form in-class teams in order to study first-hand the approaches employed by successful team leaders, specifically:
- Creative Tension: providing the motivation for innovation.
- Rampant Virtuosity: encouraging and challenging others to bring their best talents to the work.
- Continuous Play: providing the energy, focus and support required of a productive work team.
Upon completion of this module, participants will have the tools required to lead a highly productive, innovative work group.
Module Four: Communication
Focus: One-on-the Organization
The purpose of this module is to help participants increase their ability to create alignment, focus and commitment. Through a series of practice sessions and “voice lessons”, participants will learn how they can best use their natural communication talents to increase their leadership impact throughout the organization. Participants will examine the importance of the following elements of effective leadership communication:
- Structure: ensuring compelling logic and flawless organization.
- Passion: fueling the communication with personal emotion.
- Pictorial: conveying big ideas with big pictures.
Upon completion of this module, participants will have the tools required to develop and deliver a high-impact leadership communication.
